Palestinian Public Opinion: Peace, Politics, and Policy

Powerpoint Presentation | October 1, 2009 | 36 pages

At an IPI forum, Craig Charney described his findings from a poll Charney Research conducted in Palestine in the summer of 2009. The poll tapped opinions from a random sample of 2,400 Palestinians in the West Bank and Gaza. To summarize some of the findings: 1) Palestinians favor 2-state solution and willing to make peace with Israel to achieve this. 2) They’re less concerned with settlement freeze and eliminating checkpoints than they are about evacuating settlements and freeing prisoners. 3) Political division, economy, crime and occupation are the major issues now for Palestinians although the economy is improving on the West Bank.
